Does it matter which Dometic AC Unit that this happens to… or can they all fail on the capacitor?
Great video. Thank you for the information.
Thorough explanation. Very much appreciated.
How do you wire up the control board to the rv? Is there a swit c h i should buy? My old water heater was gas only the new one is electric/gas and im unsure what i need for this.
Yes you will need a switch kit and wiring. There is wiring diagram on the water heater.
Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Excellent video, just what the doctor ordered! Straight and to the point without all the fluff I see in some other videos. New subscriber here.
Thanks for watching!
My problem is the anchor and screw have come out and I can't seem to get another hole in the wall to reattach anchor...any suggestions 🙏
You know those little plastic drywall anchors that come with everything we buy? Press one of those in the hole and put the screw in it.
@@MRRVTECH thanks I'll try that👍 does that screw go in metal? Tried to screw it in 3/8 over to the left couldn't get it to catch.
Thanks for the great video, personally not a fan of the impact tool for this kind of work, I prefer a drill with adjustable torque setting to prevent damage to screw and bolts. However, each to their own.
Thanks for watching!
Back side of condensor coil is dirty. Need to get the dirt brushed off the coil before spraying it with cleaner but the space is tight. Any tips?
Remove the shroud, I believe there are 4-5 small 5/16" sheet metal screws holding it on.
@@MRRVTECH thank you!
Thank you for this! Took a while to find someone talking about my specific box
Thanks for watching
Where is the condensate drain and how do you clean it . Every video that I see on all ACs you have to take the coil out and the pan is underneath, but looking at mine it looks like it’s put in with rivets and I see no way to take it out.
I got to the self-serve car wash and use the high-pressure rinse and spray water into the coils in the back from about 10 feet away. Keeps them clean and clears out the dust and dirt on the inside as well.

I do not recommend that you try to lift or move the coil, it could result in rupturing a refrigerant line. I've used multiple methods including paper towels taped to a dowel rod, a mcdonalds straw taped to my shopvac hose....etc. the drains are located underneath at each side of the evaporator tray. Typically I will use a 90 degree dental pic to poke them from underneath. Coil cleaner will break up the algae pretty well, usually after coil cleaner and poking the drain holes clear, I'll rinse the tray with a hose or a couple bottles of water until I see a steady flow from both drain holes. Hope this helps!
Thank you!
I have 12.5 volts coming in and going out of the inverter, but I have no 110/120 volt power while plugged in. I did have to reduce from 30 amps to 15 amps.
Check power at the source, any adapters you may have, then the cord itself, and verify there is no power at the bottom of the 30 amp breaker. If there is power on the bottom but nothing to the unit, you have a bad circuit breaker. However, Aforementioned things must be checked FIRST.
113volts? I'd call your utility provider.
Why would you say that?
i almost said too much info ! but as i kept watching it was great thanks

Having trouble, water pump pressurizes the system when drawing water the pump will not provide pressure to sustain water flow, we replaced the pump all filters are clean, any suggestions?
Air locked and needs primed, kinked hose, or a valve in the wrong position, first 3 things that come to my mind.
Just purchased a 2018 Hemisphere and it does the same thing. How do I prime the water lines? Thanks.
@tcaphou best way I have found to prime is messy but very effective...just loosen the discharge fitting on the pump with a faucet open and have a towel or shop vac at the ready...tighten it as soon as you get pressure
I have a WFCO Distribution panel combined with the converter as one unit. I want to switch to a Victron system to improve my battery charging and power management. Any suggestions on WFCO or other panels I can swap into place that don't have a converter?
Just bypass the converter in your WFCO and reroute through your Victron charger
@@MRRVTECH oh snap! I’m an idiot for not thinking of this. Thank you 🙏
What a great video. Thank you! All the info we needed and an explanation for every component on the heater. I have a water leak and can't find it. Zero water leaking from lines but a deep from under the heater. I suspect the previous owner didn't replace the annod rod like I do and thats my leak
Your suspicion is justified, probably a hole in the tank.
Thanks for the info
A very good video. I am happy I found you. I have a question. My 2003 Prowler has a Coleman AC with a thermostat on the wall. Lately when I turn it on to cool it delays several minutes before it turns on even when I have it set very low. Or it turns on then off. What are your thoughts?
These units have time delay relays in them, they delay the time before the compressor starts to ensure the " head pressure" has dissipated, this prevents amperage spikes at start up that can trip breakers. That being said, after the time delay relay closes ( usually about 2 min 15 seconds) the compressor should start and run normally and not shut right back off. Now if you are in auto mode and have cycled through multiple settings on your thermostat this can occur as the control logic searches for the desired / correct fan speed but if that is not the case...you may need a service tech.
i have a 30 amp system in my fifth wheel camper but no 12 v system. obviously to you it is an old unit. is there a way to change the panel box to one with a 12 v system includid. i am rebuilding the camper as i speak about it. please send information as to what panel box i should get like a searial number or type etc.. please excuse the typos. ps i like the information thank you
Thank you for watching! WFCO offers 12v distribution boxes in 30 and 50 amp and they are adequate to run your new build.
Hello sir, I have a 2015 vibe 27bh. When I plug to sure power it trips the gfi from the sure power. If I only leave main and converter breaker on nothing happens, but when I turn microwave, A/c, refer or water heater it trips the sure power breaker. I really need your help.
Sounds like a wiring issue that will likely require an experienced technician, it only takes 5 mA to trip a GFCI circuit so it could virtually be anywhere......best of luck!
Question when there are some wires that look a little burnt should i cut wire back some and replace the ? Spade? Also on air box there is very minimal brown look on 2 of the 6 connectors. I dont have a meter to check anything but i do know the compressor tries to "kick" but doesnt fully kick in. But got a new capacitor gonna replace and hope thats all it is. Please let me know about burnt wires! Thanks
Also the one in unit is 60 +10 but when I look online it shows 50 +5??? Duotherm b59516.711c0
Yes clean up the wiring and install new spade connectors.
I have no 120v to my appliances. I tested the lugs and do not have a neutral for some reason. What could be the cause? Bad converter? It is sending voltage to the battery
Open neutrals are very common on RVs, here are the most common things I've found; improper wiring at the source ( park pole), bad shore cord, improper wiring at the distribution box in the RV, but most commonly a receptacle or wire nut not properly attached making good contact. Some appliances will work with an open neutral but others will not. Sometimes I find this problem in 5 minutes sometimes it takes 8 hours.....best of luck!
Were do you connect the negative wires for the dc side? I see the red but not sure of the black side
Like the video and I did subscribe. What would cause a similar unit to not cool very much? I do heat compressor kick on. 2021 Rockwood mini-lite 2516s model.
Low or no refrigerant.
My ignitor is clicking but not Lighting my hot water heater it is getting gas
Control board
It’s been 8 months. Anything?
Nah never returned he took it to the factory but never followed up with me, thanks for asking.
I've got 2 RV ac units I'm going to replace the capacitors on this week. Your comments about them fully self-discharging is a relief, I hate working on electrical things. Been shocked too many times.
Great video, very informative!
Glad it was helpful!
great video i have the same distribution panel , can this converter charge lithium battery
Yes
So, where would I get a new capacitor?
Amazon! A 3rd of the price the manufacturer charges for theirs and it does the same thing for the same amount of time!
@@MRRVTECH Thanks.
I know this is an older video but looking for help. The converter wasn't working so I replaced it. Now the converter breaker pops evetytime the main breaker is turned on. Any ideas what I'm missing?
Battery hooked up correctly? Send pics of the converter wiring and battery wiring please
@@MRRVTECH Will do. How would you like me to send them?
@@MRRVTECH Maybe a dumb question also but how do I go about sending pics?
Overload protector that is in it went bad, is there one on Amazon that is better than the other since the one in it is either has a crazy cost of takes weeks to get... Thanks for your help...
What's an overload protector?
I believe they meant the high limit temperature switch you referred to on the compressor. I have to replace mine to on my Dometic 13500 Brisk ll. I purchased my trailer private sale and had no manuals. Can you tell me what one l need. So l can check if Amazon has an aftermarket one. Thanks for the videos!!
I see you used Sika Flex 221 on the fittings, what did you use on the drain discharge?
ABS/PVC glue
@@MRRVTECH Wow, it looks like a soft caulking material.

Can the water heater operate on both electric and gas at the same time. Was told by someone that I could do that to maximize the amount of hot water I could get over the actual 6 gallons. If it is possible, how would I get it to do so?
You can turn both switches on at the same time.....however this will not effect " how much hot water you get" at all.
Great video. Have a situation. Adding water to the fresh water tank which has 43 gallon capacity but it over flows after only adding 14 gallons. Not sure what is wrong. Do you have any trouble shooting tips?
Blocked vent, could be a kinked hose or possibly insects have clogged it with a nest.
@@MRRVTECH so where would this vent be located and what would it look like ??
sorry i see it now.
¿Can the testing be done while capacitor in still in circuit?
No
One of the best videos I have ever watched. Thank you for the great presentation.
Thank you for the kind words and for watching!
now I know the very basics of how to use that multimeter, thank you Josh!
Mine did not come with brackets. Is there a fix!
Gonna need the brackets.....
@@MRRVTECH Yep! Just ordered from Scamp and ordered the “boomerang brackets”. Not on ther parts website, so called them. Grest customer service.
Hello Josh, what brand of coil cleaner is that in the video? Thank you.
Wow, super helpful video! Thank you for taking the time to make this, and help educate others.
This is a good video, I've already learned how to clean the a/c, now my issue is the motor sounds like it still spinning/running for a few seconds after i turn the a/c off. It would be so very helpful.if you would make a video on how in the world you properly take out and and install a new motor. I have tired oiling the bearings but since the are not really serviceable I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to replace the whole motor. No decent videos are available for this. Thank you.
Thanks for the video.
This is great and there appear to be more similar on the channel. You got my subscribe. If you could post a link to flexible drill bit attachment I'd be grateful never seen anything like it.
I'm reading 1.60 volts AC from ground to each breaker and 0 volts from natural to each breaker?
Make sure your meter is set to AC VOLTS ~. If it is then you do not have power coming to the breakers.
@MRRVTECH I wasn't testing the correct poles on the plug 😅 I retested, and I'm definitely getting 123 volts to the breaker box. I believe my 1 gfi in the bathroom or possibly the exterior gfi is bad, causing no power to my other outlets. I will be removing each gfi today and testing every outlet in the camper today.
So if the converter/charger is powered through the breaker panel and you add an inverter to run when boondocking would that just be charging your batteries of the batteries?
HA! If only! Perpetual energy would be awesome, however the consumption rate will always be greater than the charge rate in all scenarios. If you somehow figure out how to overcome this, please let me know......we will be wealthy beyond our imagination...
electric ignition on gas water heater does not come to light gas, is it the valve or the module that could be bad? Electric side of heater works fine. Thanks
Probably the board " module"
